July 16 20062006-07-16Two men stand on a red-carpeted platform beside a golden deity murti decorated with multicoloured flower garlands in yellow, red, green and white. The taller man in a white shirt and grey trousers stands with hands near the deity; a man in a pale green shirt bends forward, reaching toward a metal plate of offerings. Gilded arch with a golden crown finial frames the central murti, with smaller decorated murtis flanking it, draped with garlands and gold necklaces. Corrugated metal roof and bamboo rafters overhead, with banana leaves and blue-and-white banners behind.2006-07-16July 16 20062006-07-16A temporary thatched and corrugated-roof pandal with bamboo rafters holds a deity murti decorated with a gold crown, gold necklaces and thick garlands of red, yellow, white and multicoloured flowers. A man in a cream shirt and pale trousers bends forward with his hands at the murti's chest, apparently offering or adorning it. To the right, a man in a white shirt and light trousers holds a flat wooden tray and watches. Gold-framed panels and a line of blue-and-white banners with printed text sit behind the figures, and a vertical bundle of green fibre hangs at right.2006-07-16Photo of sannyasis at a workshop in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, learning to tie a kattumurthy, a decorated wooden frame draped in red cloth and wrapped with yellow and green marigold garlands and brass fittings. Two men in white shirts and orange shawls, one wearing a rudraksha mala, guide the work with their hands while a person with shoulder-length dark hair in a white top leans in to adjust the garlands. Other hands and a yellow cloth appear at the right edge, with a broom and tools against a plain whitewashed wall.2007-05-09A temple ritual scene in which a man with long dark wavy hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange silk dhoti and shawl, kneels at left and reaches up to adjust a garland on a deity murti. The murti stands on a golden vahana-like base and wears a decorated white and silver face, an orange and saffron headcloth, a silver ornamental necklace and a trident-like staff. It is heavily garlanded with yellow and orange marigolds, red roses, white jasmine and purple flowers, with green fabric draped behind. A gilded carved backdrop and orange-washed temple walls with potted plants frame the setting. The kneeling man appears to be an appearance-based a person candidate from his long hair, orange ceremonial clothing and bare-chested presentation, but the cues are not sufficiently distinctive to confirm.2011-10-26April 30 20152015-04-30April 30 20122012-04-30January 01 20112011-01-01March 27 20162016-03-27A photograph of a temple ritual: a bare-backed man with long, dark, swept-back hair wears a saffron-orange cloth wrapped around his waist and hands on a deity murti draped in garlands of yellow, red, green and white flowers. The murti has a gold crown and ornaments with a red silk cloth beneath. Behind him, a man in a white shirt with a rudraksha mala stands watching, with other onlookers and a pillared temple roof above.2006-10-01February 19 20162016-02-19
