A young man with long dark hair and bare chest, wearing an orange saffron dhoti and shawl, grips a tall wooden pestle and presses it into a stone mortar on the sandy ground. Around him, several onlookers stand: a man in a white kurta and dark-rimmed glasses with a black rudraksha-style necklace holds a metal plate, a bald man in a grey t-shirt and trousers watches, a woman with short red hair wears a white wrap, and another man in white stands in the background. An older bare-chested man with white moustache wears a white dhoti at right. Scattered white cloth scraps, leaves and a small bowl lie on the ground near shrubs and trees, with a few stones and a red plastic chair behind.2004-12-31
