A tall figure in an orange-saffron robe with a matching orange turban stands near the center, with a person cue of a saffron turban and saffron robe, alongside other saffron-clad sannyasis and men in white dhotis and shirts. Orange bunting is strung along the temple wall, and a scaffold rises at upper right. Many people in the background, among them a child in the left crowd. Counted visible people: roughly twenty.2008-02-17February 17 20082008-02-17February 18 20082008-02-18Exterior photograph of a white temple colonnade with ornately carved pillars and a tiered gopuram-style superstructure above. A man in a red shirt and white trousers walks along the walkway, while a man in a yellow shirt stands in the lower left corner. Two men in white dhotis and white shirts with ritual threads stand near the pillar bases, and a bare-chested man with a sacred thread and tilak stands at the right edge. A small canopy structure and trees are visible to the right. A faint copyright overlay appears at the lower right.2009-08-08Outdoor photo of a large crowd on a flat stone courtyard beside a white temple tower being built, wrapped in bamboo scaffolding, with a second white shrine tower on the right. Many people stand around in conversation: several men in saffron/orange robes, some with shaved heads, one wearing an orange turban-like wrap; men in white dhotis and white shirts; a man in a pink shirt and white dhoti; a few women in orange saris. A man in a light blue shirt climbs the scaffolding on the right. A small stone shrine with a pink flower garland sits on the left beside a row of white railings and kalasha-topped pillars. Hazy hills and trees stretch behind.2008-02-18February 06 20172017-02-06February 06 20172017-02-06 +5 copiesFebruary 06 20172017-02-06A photograph of a tall white gopuram (temple tower) of the Arunachaleshwara temple, its tiers covered in sculpted figures under a clear pale blue sky. Scaffolding on the upper platform holds a small group of people in white and light-coloured clothing, with a dome-shaped canopy above them and red-and-white flags flanking the structure. Two vertical bands of colourful garlands hang down the front of the tower. Green trees and rocky hills frame the lower left and right, and a row of onlookers' heads and raised hands fills the bottom edge, with a white dove flying at upper left. Visible people on the platform are too small to identify individually; no one is clearly identifiable as a specific individual.2017-02-06A photograph of a tall white stone gopuram temple tower, its surface carved with rows of sculpted figures, rising against a pale hazy sky with a hill behind it. Scaffolding wraps the upper tower and a wooden platform sits at the top, where a small group of people in white and orange-yellow clothes stand near a dome-shaped kalasha finial. Two vertical strings of yellow and red flower garlands hang down the tower face. Green trees frame the lower corners. Several people are visible on the upper platform, consistent with a kumbhabhishekam consecration ceremony at the temple.2017-02-06
