A large group of men in saffron and orange robes stands clustered at left near a wooden scaffold ladder, some wearing orange shawls and one with a red-orange headwrap. In the center, a saffron-robed figure with a bare head and orange wrap stands facing away with hands together, near another orange-robed person. At right, a bare-chested worker in white dhoti and a man in white with a red-bordered cloth stand near a large white sheet on the roof. In the foreground, a figure in a saffron-orange robe and an orange head wrap stands on a raised concrete platform, facing down toward two bare-chested men in white dhotis with orange borders who stand below in a sunken pit. A third man in a white shirt and light trousers stands at the left edge. A crowd of people in white dhotis, white shirts and dark trousers gathers on the concrete slab and the surrounding ground, and some hold cameras. Marigold petals and orange items lie on the concrete. The figure in orange has long dark hair and appears to be a person, based on the saffron robe, orange head wrap and long hair, in a presiding role over the ritual in the pit.2008-02-18February 18 20082008-02-18Outdoor photograph of a group walking along a dirt path beside a white marble temple with carved pillars and a dark doorway decorated with hanging marigold garlands.
