October 12 20122012-10-12A group of people in saffron-orange robes descends a wide stone staircase in front of a towering gopuram of a temple, its tiers covered in white sculpted deities and figures. Several monks with shaved heads wear orange dhotis and orange shawls, with gold-coloured necklaces and beaded malas; one leads with hands folded. Two women in orange saris walk behind, and a man in a teal shirt stands at the left. A brass grille with gold-tinted scrollwork lines the right side, and a carved stone pillar marks the left. The scene reads as a temple visit with devotees in ascetic dress.2012-10-12A group walks along a concrete path beside a large carved stone temple gopuram-style wall with tiered sculpted pillars and a towering ornate tower. Several people in saffron-orange robes walk together, with a central figure in a saffron wrap wearing a long-haired appearance and a garland of beads. Others in white clothes and one man in a red-and-white striped shirt accompany them. Green trees and bushes line the path on the right.2012-10-12September 24 20062006-09-24A procession of devotees walks along a paved path beside a tall brick compound wall, with a white gopuram temple tower rising behind a large tree at left. Several saffron-robed sannyasis lead the group, many wearing orange shawls, rudraksha or beaded malas and gold-toned necklaces. Men in white dhotis and women in orange saris follow behind, some carrying cloth bags. A central figure with long dark hair, a white tilak and a multi-strand orange-beaded necklace walks smiling at the front, while devotees in white shirts and dhotis fill the background. The setting appears to be a temple precinct at dusk.2012-10-12September 26 20112011-09-26Outdoor photo of a procession walking barefoot along a dirt path toward a tall sculpted gopuram temple tower covered in carved figures under a pale sky. A central man with long swept-back dark hair wears a loose orange saffron wrap, a rudraksha mala around his neck, and raises one hand as he walks. Around him, devotees in white dhotis and shirts and other men in orange robes walk along. On the left a young man in white holds a garland of red and white flowers. A man in a white shirt on the right carries a yellow cloth bag with red embroidery.2006-08-21October 12 20122012-10-12 +1 copiesA procession crosses a paved temple courtyard toward two tall gopurams, the white-plastered towers of a South Indian temple. In the centre, a man with a swept-back dark hairstyle wears a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl and a long rudraksha-style garland with a gold-coloured pendant, walking barefoot. Around him, saffron-clad sannyasis and men in white dhotis and shirts walk in a group, some carrying bags and cloth satchels, and one holds a small bundle. Pillared stone mandapas and a lamp post frame the scene under an overcast sky.2012-10-12September 12 20122012-09-12October 12 20122012-10-12August 17 20122012-08-17
