Two deity murtis stand together, adorned with bright garlands of orange, yellow, red and purple flowers. A woman in an orange sari pours liquid from a metal vessel over the deity figures. Beside her, several people in orange and saffron robes stand in attendance, one holding a small lamp or offering. Small brass oil lamps stand on the platform, and a white marble statue of a seated figure sits at the base. The setting suggests abhishekam, a ritual bathing of the deities.2010-02-12A photograph inside a temple shrine of a deity murti pair seated on a golden throne decorated with flower garlands in red, yellow, white and purple. A standing woman in an orange sari pours liquid from a vessel onto a tall linga atop a large basin, performing abhishekam. To the left, a man in orange robes with shaved head and hands pressed together stands near a seated man in orange with folded hands. A white marble figure of a seated sage sits at the base, with brass oil lamps on both sides and a small brass figure in front. Flowers frame the arch. One standing figure in orange appears to be in the scene wearing a shawl; the seated man is not clearly identified.2010-02-12
