Several shaven-headed monastics in saffron and orange robes with red-and-gold borders stand in a ceremonial hall before a deep red curtain. Several wear rudraksha malas and wooden bangles and hold small handfuls of white rice or grain. The man at centre wears a long rudraksha mala, a pendant necklace and a tilak on his forehead, smiling as he holds grain. Another monastic on the right, with bare shoulders and white ash marks on his arms, offers grain. Behind them a colourful ceremonial umbrella or canopy is partly visible, and a mirror-like pole rises at the top of the frame. The scene resembles a maheshwara puja offering of food to sannyasis.2016-08-02August 02 20162016-08-02A photograph of a ritual feeding among saffron-robed sannyasis in a hall with red drapes. In the centre, a clean-shaven man with short hair, a dark rudraksha mala and a small pendant holds cupped hands full of pale food and opens his mouth. To the right, a bald sannyasi in orange robes with a red sash and beaded bracelets lifts a morsel toward him. Other monks in orange and red robes hold rice-like food in their palms in the background, and a golden ornament is partly visible at left.2016-08-02July 12 20162016-07-12February 23 20162016-02-23February 23 20162016-02-23September 13 20142014-09-13July 12 20162016-07-12Photograph of a group of saffron-robed sannyasi devotees in a warmly lit hall with gold ornamental panels behind them. Several shaved-headed men wear orange and red-gold shawls, rudraksha malas and a forehead tilak, and hold handfuls of yellow flower petals or rice. The central younger man in an orange robe and dark beads looks to the side while others lean in beside him. A gold-framed chandelier glows at left. The figure at the centre is a priest-like devotee; no candidate is clearly identifiable by appearance.2016-07-12A photograph of a group of shaved-headed young men and boys in saffron-orange cloth and rudraksha malas, standing in a line and receiving or eating food from their hands during a ritual distribution inside a hall. Several have white tilak markings on their foreheads and gold hoop earrings. Some hold yellow rice or prasadam in cupped hands, and an adult in an orange shawl feeds a child. Other devotees in orange and red stand in the background of a plain pink-walled room.2014-09-13September 13 20142014-09-13July 10 20132013-07-10 +2 copies
