Outdoor rural scene on dry, tilled ground with furrowed earth in the foreground. Several makeshift shelters with yellow and blue tarpaulins sit in a clearing, with a pile of brushwood to the left. Some people stand and sit among the shelters; a woman in a yellow sari and others are near the right edge. Palm and shade trees, small houses and a red-and-white painted structure stand in the background under a hazy sky.

A photograph of an open dry field with rows of makeshift tents and lean-tos made from colourful cloth and blue tarpaulins, pitched on bare, scrubby ground under a pale blue sky with scattered clouds. Tents in red, pink, green, yellow, purple and white stand in uneven lines, with laundry-like fabric hung between poles. Litter lies on the dirt paths and a distant line of trees and utility poles is visible on the horizon. No people are visible in the scene.

A wide daytime view of a large tent encampment on dry, straw-strewn open ground, with rows of pale beige conical canvas tents extending into hazy distance under a pale sky. Utility poles and wires run across the site, and a few small tarpaulin and tarp-covered lean-tos in yellow, grey and tan sit in the foreground. Scattered figures appear far off among the tents and near the lower edges, but no one is clearly prominent. Bamboo poles and frames support the shelters, and laundry hangs on a line at left.

A dusty dirt track runs along a row of makeshift shelters at dusk under a pale pink and grey sky. The shelters have striped tarpaulins and cloth in pink, blue, yellow and white, propped on bamboo poles, with woven mats and low thatch. Scattered trees and a few distant figures stand near the edge of the settlement. Dusk light and a few small specks in the sky are visible.

Wide daytime photograph of the Maha Kumbh Mela camp-city beside a narrow canal. Rows of large yellow, beige and white tents and smaller blue and purple tents fill the flat ground, with clothing hung on lines between them. A steel railway bridge and a concrete road bridge cross the hazy sky in the background, with a tall utility pole and power lines at left. The scene is an open tent encampment with no visible ritual activity or identifiable people in the foreground.

Aerial view of a dense camp of small makeshift tents at a dusty riverside site, with blue, yellow, grey and green tarpaulins stretched over bamboo poles. Flat bread or cakes are laid out to dry on mats and sheets across the ground, and laundry hangs on lines between the tents. Cooking pots, sacks and plastic buckets are scattered among them. A single small child stands near a yellow tent at the lower right. A wooden fence and bamboo poles run along the left edge.

A rural village scene in dry, flat terrain with a few trees and palm trees behind. A makeshift shelter with white tarpaulin sheeting stands beside a dirt path. A dark dog walks across the ground between a pink cloth laid on the soil and a green tarp. Muddy water pools in the foreground. Two women are visible at the edges: one in a dark blue garment on the left near the tree, and one in an orange sari at the right edge. A utility pole and wires run through the background.
