Outdoor rural scene on dry, tilled ground with furrowed earth in the foreground. Several makeshift shelters with yellow and blue tarpaulins sit in a clearing, with a pile of brushwood to the left. Some people stand and sit among the shelters; a woman in a yellow sari and others are near the right edge. Palm and shade trees, small houses and a red-and-white painted structure stand in the background under a hazy sky.

Several cattle stand and lie on the bare earth, including a white bull and brown cows. A large heap of rubbish, scraps of cloth and straw lies in the right foreground. A few distant figures are visible near the tents, too small to describe in detail.
