A photograph of a Shivastambha demonstration on sandy ground outdoors, with many shirtless young men and boys performing acrobatic pole climbs. Several performers balance or leap on tall wooden poles set upon blue padded mats, one boy in an orange loincloth leaping with arms raised. Others in orange, white and yellow dhotis stand or climb nearby, while spectators in casual clothes watch from the sides, a bearded man in white near the center and a woman with light hair at right. Trees, a red building with green roofs and parked cars form the background. About fifty people are visible, including partially seen figures.
