A bare-chested man stands waist-deep in a wide river at dawn, hands pressed together in prayer and face tilted upward as water runs down his head and neck. A second man in the left foreground also wades in the water. Behind them a covered wooden boat with a red-trimmed hull sits near the bank, with two people seated in it, under a pale hazy sky. The man in front has wet long dark hair and no visible robes, malas or ornaments, so there is no distinctive cue to identify him.

An elderly man with grey hair and a grey beard stands waist-deep in the Ganga river at dawn, hands pressed together in anjali mudra and face tilted upward in prayer. Bare-chested, he appears to be performing morning river prayer. Small boats are moored at the bank in the misty background, and a few distant figures stand near the water's edge on the left. The calm, pale grey water reflects the early light.
