A misty river scene at dawn or dusk on a wide waterway. Two wooden rowing boats carry several people each, with rowers at the oars, moving across the grey water. Small floating oil lamps dot the river surface in the foreground. Behind them a dense riverfront of multi-storey buildings, rooftops and street lights rises through haze. A wooden mast or boat frame stands at the left edge. No a person is visible; the people appear as small silhouettes in the boats.
