Night ritual scene at an outdoor puja area lit by overhead lamps. In the foreground a tall brass oil lamp with a multi-tiered stem is garlanded with yellow marigolds, beside a brass bell, brass vessels and a tray of red flower petals. Behind a white square platform with a shallow water tank, a bald priest in white dhoti and shawl with maroon borders sits with a rudraksha-style mala and an open book on a stand. Further back, a figure in a red-and-gold ornate chair, wearing red robes and a red turban with a long beaded necklace, sits beside an attendant in white. A woman in a yellow sari sits at the right edge. The scene suggests a homa or puja-style ceremony with a seated audience in the dark background.
