Outdoor flag-hoisting ceremony beneath tall palm and banana trees. A figure in saffron-orange robe and orange turban, with a white flower garland, stands at the foot of a white flagpole, arms raised toward a red-orange flag, a yellow rope attached. Beside them a framed picture decorated with a flower garland rests on a white-draped table. Around the scene, a crowd of men in white shirts and white dhotis claps and raises hands. Strings of small blue-and-white triangular pennants hang between trees. A striped red, green and purple canopy shades the left side. On the table at lower left sit white sugar-cube-like blocks, a jar, and a bowl of colourful flower petals and offerings.
