June 05 20122012-06-05A photograph of a temple hall where a younger man with long dark hair, a red-and-white forehead mark, a rudraksha-bead headband and layered gold ceremonial necklaces in orange-saffron robes pours or offers from a metal vessel into the cupped hands of an elderly bald man in an orange shawl and white jasmine garland with a rudraksha headband. Several other men in orange and white robes, rudraksha malas and a woman in a cream sari stand nearby while a crowd watches in the background. Pillars, a lamp and a visible camera crew frame the scene. Appearance suggests Swamiji (probable) as the long-haired figure with gold necklaces and rudraksha headband, performing the ritual as the central officiant, though this identification is uncertain.2012-06-05A photograph of two seated men in saffron robes at an indoor gathering. The man on the left, with long swept-back hair, a red bindi and white vibhuti lines, wears a white and orange flower garland, a silver necklace and a saffron shawl; he is a probable Swamiji candidate by appearance, and his hand rests near a small metal vessel. Beside him an elderly, shaved-headed man with white vibhuti, a rudraksha mala, a gold pendant, bangles and a red and white flower garland sits in orange cloth. Saffron-clad attendants stand behind, and several men in white shirts and a man in a cap crowd at right, one leaning in with a hand extended.2012-05-22 +2 copiesPhotograph of a ceremonial water-pouring ritual in a crowded temple setting. A bald man with a bare upper body in the foreground pours or presses a white substance onto the head of a seated, shaven-headed figure in saffron robes, who wears a rudraksha mala and a large garland of white flowers with red blossoms. A man in white dhoti and shawl with gold border and rudraksha beads stands at right. Another man in orange and a rudraksha mala stands behind, with a tilak and red bindi, and a further standing man in orange and gold garlands is at left. Some devotees are visible behind, and a rudraksha garland drapes the saffron-clad figure. The scene appears to be an abhishekam or anointing ritual with garlands, and the saffron-robed figure may be a person based on saffron clothing and rudraksha ornaments.2012-06-05
