Many hold small lit oil lamps (diyas) and brass bells or small brass vessels, and brass plates with flowers, betel leaves and offerings sit on orange mats before them. Several women wear orange or yellow shawls and gold bangles; one older woman in the foreground wears an orange sari with a maroon border and holds a bell. Open books and papers lie on the floor, and a striped cloth backdrop hangs behind them. This appears to be a group chanting or puja with oil lamps; no a person depiction is clearly visible.2010-10-10August 18 20112011-08-18 +1 copiesA large group of seated devotees performs a padapuja-style ritual in a hall. Most wear white, yellow or orange-red garments with red or saffron shawls; many hold small brass oil lamps and bells while reciting with open books on mats. Brass plates, small oil lamps and flowers sit on orange mats on the floor in front. Women and girls dominate the front rows, and a few boys sit among them. Audience members in the background watch from chairs. The image is a photograph of this group and does not show a visible depiction of a person.2010-10-19March 20 20132013-03-20A photograph of a row of women seated cross-legged on a glossy tiled floor during a puja. Each is in front of an orange cloth mat holding brass plates, small brass oil lamps and kalasha-style vessels with flower offerings. Foreground women wear orange saris with maroon borders and a rudraksha-style mala; several middle women wear white saris with red or yellow shawls, and others wear white or yellow garments. Several have palms pressed together in prayer, and one woman in orange reaches toward a plate. Behind them, more seated women in white and yellow are visible against a pale pink wall. The arrangement suggests a padapuja or group puja.2010-09-18August 27 20112011-08-27June 05 20112011-06-05
