A stone basin with a carved lotus-petal rim sits on a white marble plinth, holding a small flame that burns above the bowl. Behind it a long rectangular water channel with brick edging runs toward a red-brick footbridge, flanked by green trees and shrubs. The marble base carries an engraved inscription in Devanagari and English recording that the eternal flame symbolising peace was lit by the chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust, His Royal Highness Prince Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah, on 1 November 1986. No people are visible.
