A man with long dark hair, a red bindi, rudraksha and gold bead necklaces, and a saffron shawl sits eyes closed on an ornate silver throne with leopard-print cushions. Three devotees in saffron and gold-bordered sarees attend him: the one at left holds a lit flame, the one at right raises a lamp beside a vase of orange and red flowers, and a seated figure in dark clothing sits in the foreground near a brass bowl of offerings. A large portrait of a smiling man in orange turban and tilak appears at left. Platters, silver bowls and flowers rest on a white-draped table.2014-04-29May 01 20142014-05-01A standing priest in an orange and gold dhoti-style wrap, bald and bare-armed with rudraksha-like beaded bracelets, raises a lit multi-flame oil lamp toward a golden throne-like seat. Centered on the seat is a framed portrait of a smiling man with a saffron/orange turban, orange robes and a red-brown tilak, labelled with a printed caption. A kneeling person in white clothing with a white shawl sits at lower right with hands joined in prayer, beside a metal bowl and a small brass plate of offerings. Flanking the seat are flower arrangements of orange, yellow and purple blooms, a silver trident (trishul) and green foliage, all against a backdrop of a large banyan-style tree over a golden temple-carved landscape. This appears to be an aarti ritual before a portrait on a peetha/throne; the portrait is a printed image, not a physical person.2014-12-26A woman in a white sari with an orange border and orange shawl stands at left holding a lit oil lamp with several flames, facing a ceremonial setup. A second woman in orange clothing sits partly visible at the far left. On the right, a golden peetha throne with a gilded canopy and lion-shaped supports holds a framed portrait of a figure with long dark hair in orange robes and a rudraksha mala, seated against a rocky backdrop. Red velvet drapes hang behind the throne. In front, a wooden seat, brass puja vessels, a kalasha-style pot, flower offerings and a plate sit on a dark cloth. A painted portrait of a woman in red appears on the back wall beside a white-covered bed.2006-10-29 +1 copiesA photograph of a stage set for a ceremony with a red carpet and a large ornate gold throne in the centre.
