A photograph of a small indoor celebration. A seated man in an orange-saffron robe with white tilak marks on his forehead receives a birthday cake, lit with candles, on a low green-legged table. A boy in a white shirt and dark trousers leans in to feed or touch the cake with his hand. A woman in a yellow saree with a dark gold-bordered pallu stands at left smiling, and a young child in blue sits at far left clapping. Behind them, two framed sepia portraits of a seated man and a seated woman are garlanded with flowers, and a small pyramid-shaped offering stands on a yellow cloth. A striped tiger-skin style mat lies on the floor and a metal plate sits near the cake. Partly visible hands appear at the right edge. The cake reads a partly legible message.
