A photograph taken from above of a wooden bamboo scaffold ascending the side of a temple structure during a Kumbhabhishekam. A figure in orange robes with long dark hair climbs the rungs, one hand raised to the head, with another orange-robed attendant following behind. Several orange triangular flags bearing an Om symbol with a sun motif are held aloft by men in white shirts and dhotis. Onlookers in white and colored clothing crowd the rooftop and balcony at left, with a blue and purple tarpaulin canopy overhead. A small gold-tipped temple tower stands at upper right.

A crowd of villagers in white, cream and colourful sarees and shirts stands at the building entrance and along a dirt path. A round blue-and-white emblem with a bird is mounted on the white facade, with an orange flag and palm trees behind. Small brass plates of offerings sit at the foot of the steps. Based on appearance, the saffron-robed figure is a person, shown descending steps in a village setting.2008-07-28Outdoor photo of a procession on red-and-white checkered stone steps under an overcast sky. A man in a flowing saffron-orange robe walks down the center of the steps, barefoot, with hands held together before him. Behind him, two attendants in white clothes with yellow shawls carry tall poles topped with ornate, colourful ceremonial umbrellas or banners. Along the steps and at the right, a crowd of people in white and mixed colours stand with palms pressed together in greeting. A portable spotlight on a stand is at the left, and a woman in white with a yellow sash is in the foreground at left, seen from behind. The saffron-robed man has short dark hair and no visible crown, turban or mala, so his identity is uncertain.2009-07-08
