A photo of an evening ritual at dusk beside a tall metal lamp pillar under a corrugated roof. A man in profile, wearing a saffron-brown head wrap and a red flower garland with rudraksha bracelets, holds a burning oil lamp aloft in his right hand. Beside him a large brass bowl with a bright flame sits on a tray edged with red and white flower garlands. Smoke rises into the pale sky. The lamp and bowl suggest an aarti or deepam offering. The person appears to be a priest or devotee; no identity claim is made from appearance.

Beside her a large brass bowl of burning fire sits on a platform draped with red and white marigold garlands, and a tall silver-coloured pillar rises behind them against a metal-roofed structure and pale sky. A ritual fire is being offered during an evening ceremony, possibly a Karthigai Deepam-related observance. No person is identifiable as a person from visible cues.2013-11-17 +1 copiesNovember 17 20132013-11-17November 17 20132013-11-17A photograph of a priest performing an aarti with a flaming oil lamp at dusk.
