A photograph at dusk of a bare-shouldered woman in a dark wrap and a gold-banded headwrap holding a small brass lamp with a flame, her wrist and arm strung with beaded bracelets and a red-and-white flower garland over her shoulder. Beside her a large brass bowl of burning fire sits on a platform draped with red and white marigold garlands, and a tall silver-coloured pillar rises behind them against a metal-roofed structure and pale sky. A ritual fire is being offered during an evening ceremony, possibly a Karthigai Deepam-related observance. No person is identifiable as a person from visible cues.
