Night photograph of a stone-stepped tank or pond lined with lit clay oil lamps (diyas) during the Karthikai Deepam celebration. A man in white dhoti and white shirt crouches on the step, lighting a row of small terracotta oil lamps with a flame. Lamps are also visible across the water reflecting on the surface and along the far steps.

Rows of small terracotta oil lamps with lit wicks sit along a stone ledge at night, their warm flames casting glow on the grey stone surface. A blurred white-clothed figure is partly visible at the upper left edge, seated out of focus. The scene shows lamps lit for a Karthikai Deepam celebration; the oil lamps are the clear focus, with dark shadows around them.

Night photograph of red sandstone steps lit by small clay oil lamps placed in rows along the treads. A woman in a cream and yellow sari with green border kneels at lower left setting lamps, while two women in white garments bend over the steps further up. Strings of coloured fairy lights run along the top edge beside a metal railing. No deity or a person figure is visible; the lamps are oil lamps, and the scene shows people lighting lamps on temple steps.
