The man on the left, wearing a white shirt and a cloth wrap, crouches and holds a metal rod with tongs over a flat stone. A bucket of charcoal sits at the left edge. The scene shows metalworking in progress.2006-12-19A photograph of a metalworking workshop floor with two workers. In the foreground, a person with curly dark hair and a black wristband crouches and holds a thin metal rod over a shallow round metal dish. Beside them, a second worker in a white-and-grey sleeved garment reaches in from the right, holding a tool over a wooden block with scattered metal pieces, discs and cut sheet metal around it. A long thin saw blade lies diagonally across the dirt floor, and tangled reddish and black wire or metal scraps sit at the upper left. The setting is a rough earthen floor with bare feet and sandals visible at the edges.A worker in a pink full-sleeve shirt, plaid lungi and a red-and-white checked head cloth squats on dusty red earth, shaping a grey granite slab with a chisel and hammer. A yellow measuring tape lies across the stone and chips are scattered around it. Behind him is a large heap of crushed grey stone, more cut slabs lean on the ground, and a white plastic chair stands among construction debris, at an outdoor stone-working site.2006-12-19December 17 20092009-12-17A photo of a man sitting cross-legged on a stone ledge in an outdoor stone-carving yard, working a small carved stone with a hammer and chisel. He wears black-rimmed glasses, a white sleeveless vest, a gold chain and a green checked lungi, and is barefoot. Around him lie rough granite blocks, stone rubble, a carved stone urn or basin, a stone elephant figure at the top left, a tree trunk and scattered tools including a mallet and a plastic bottle.December 19 20062006-12-19A construction site photograph showing two men working on a concrete building under bamboo scaffolding lashed with rope. The man on the left, in a white shirt and dark trousers, swings a hammer while bending over metal rebar laid on the sandy ground. The man seated on a concrete block, in a yellow t-shirt and maroon trousers, holds a tool and works on the rebar. Concrete pillars, a slab overhead, scattered stones, bundles of bamboo and a pile of cut rebar surround them.2010-02-10
