A large seated audience of men in white dhotis and white shirts fills a covered tent hall at a convention. Many hold small booklets or papers on their laps and face forward, while a standing man in a white shirt stands near the middle aisle. Along the left wall hangs a framed banner with a portrait of a smiling man wearing a white turban and a Tamil-language caption in yellow and orange. Beige draped fabric lines the walls, with white plastic chairs in rows, fans and a small speaker visible near the ceiling.
