Inside the shrine, a deity murti decorated with white and red flower garlands sits in a gilded arch. In front, a black pot-shaped vessel rests on a wooden platform draped with a white jasmine garland, flanked by brass oil lamps and a fan. Three people in saffron-orange robes kneel and attend the ritual: one with a shaved head and tilak leans in to the vessel, and two others, one with a shaved head and tilak, kneel at the sides. A figure in orange appears to be performing a abhishekam to the linga.2014-06-30A brightly painted temple shrine or ratha-like structure in an outdoor setting, decorated with yellow marigold garlands and white flower garlands. The tiered superstructure is painted in pink, teal, blue and orange with geometric patterns, and a carved hooded cobra (naga) hood sits at its base. A dark deity murti or ornamented head crowns the top, with a stone or metal finial above. Bamboo poles and rope lash the scaffolding around it, with banana leaves at the edges and a pale sky behind. No people are visible.2013-11-11June 29 20142014-06-29 +2 copiesOutdoor photograph of a kumbhabhishekam ritual on a rooftop. A golden kalasha with a pointed finial, wrapped in white flower garlands, sits at centre. A man in a yellow dhoti and red-brown rudraksha mala pours water from a small brass pot onto it. A bare-chested priest in a yellow dhoti and saffron cloth touches the kalasha. A tall figure in saffron robes, long swept-back hair and rudraksha mala holds a brass pot and pours water. Beside him a man in a pink shawl and a man in white with an orange sash stand near, and a man in a white dhoti kneels and bows toward the kalasha. Saffron flags bearing a golden Om symbol stand behind on bamboo poles, with a white building and trees in the background under a clear blue sky.2010-11-22
