Night procession at the Kumbh Mela. A man seated centrally on an ornate golden-and-orange palanquin raises his right hand in greeting; he wears a gold crown, an orange robe, a long red and white flower garland, and a rudraksha-style bead mala with a gold pendant. Above him is a large orange and turquoise fringed parasol with tassels, and to his left stands a silver trident. Around him, saffron-robed attendants carry staffs and wear bead malas and flower garlands, and a bare-chested attendant with an ornate headdress stands at right. Warm street lights glow through the haze. Probable Swamiji is seated in the centre, identified by the crown, garland and orange robes; he appears in person.
