A blurred, long-exposure night view of a riverside ghat in Varanasi. Warm street lamps and illuminated shop fronts glow along the bank, their lights reflected in dark rippling water in vertical gold streaks. Silhouetted buildings and trees line the skyline under a deep blue night sky. No people are visible in the frame.

Small boats with a few seated figures drift near the bank in the foreground. Multi-storey stone buildings, a temple spire and a large dark tree rise against the night sky along the ghat. Crowds gather along the steps and landing, and string lights decorate a pavilion. No clear individual is identifiable as a person in this scene.2014-04-30
