Two drummers in front carry large barrel drums slung on straps: one wears a red-and-white striped shirt and maroon dhoti, the other a blue shirt and orange dhoti. Behind them, men in white shirts and white dhotis play long brass horns and wind instruments. Ornate umbrella-like canopies with red, orange and teal panels and tassels frame a decorated palanquin-style float with a deity murti under a golden crown-topped canopy, carried ahead of the crowd. Several people in white ritual clothing and a woman in a white sari stand on the sides. Palm trees and a clear sky fill the background.2010-02-12January 01 20122012-01-01An outdoor evening procession on a dirt path lined with coconut palms. Two drummers in the foreground carry large barrel drums with green-painted shells: one wears a red shirt with maroon lungi, the other a blue shirt with orange dhoti. Behind them, men and women in white ritual clothing walk, several carrying ornate umbrellas and decorated standards with red and blue emblems. A brightly decorated palanquin or ratha with a golden canopy and colourful fringe is visible in the background, and a figure in white holds a long horn-like instrument. The scene suggests a festival procession in an ashram setting, with a mixed group of about ten people visible.2010-02-12A rural road procession in daylight, with palm trees and a thatched hut at left. In the foreground, several drummers in white dhotis and white shawls play double-headed drums: a man in a pale yellow shirt beats a red-and-black drum, while others carry drums with striped and pink covers. Behind them, men in white and lavender garments and an orange-clad figure walk along the road, and orange flags flutter from a pole near a small shrine structure.2006-11-13October 20 20162016-10-20A procession on a dirt road beside palm trees and green bushes. In the foreground, a young man in a maroon shirt with a round emblem plays a large barrel drum with a green and gold cloth wrap and yellow cords, holding a drumstick. Behind him, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti plays a long dark wind instrument, and a man in a maroon shirt and red cloth plays a second long horn. Other men in white dhotis and orange or yellow sashes walk in the background, with a red and orange flag visible at left. Participants wear white and orange, with gold bangles and a wristwatch visible.2010-07-24An evening procession moves along a dirt path lined with tall palm trees under a soft sky. Men in white dhotis and white shirts, many wearing blue-and-white beaded lanyards, walk in front. Two drummers carry barrel drums, one in a red shirt and dark sarong, the other in a light blue shirt. Behind them, devotees in white and cream clothes follow ornate ceremonial umbrellas with teardrop-shaped canopies in orange, red and teal with gold trim. A decorated palanquin or ratha topped with a golden canopy and colourful fabric is carried in the distance. A white wall with a red stripe runs along the left edge. Nothing identifies a specific individual as a person in this view.2010-02-12January 02 20132013-01-02A photograph of a village procession on a dirt path lined with coconut palms. A man in an orange shawl and ornate gold-and-beaded necklace walks under a multicoloured canopy umbrella held aloft by a helper. Around him, men in white dhotis and orange cloth walk with drummers carrying barrel drums. A bearded older man in white stands among them, and a smiling man in the foreground wears white vibhuti on his forehead. A stack of cut logs lies to the left.2006-12-23
