In the foreground, a shaven-headed person in an orange-brown wrap raises a tiered brass aarti lamp with many flames toward the shrine. Beyond, a seated figure in a rust-red robe and a beaded necklace sits on an ornate gold throne with a tiger-skin-like cloth, flanked by brass lamps and hanging lamps. Several seated devotees in orange-red garments sit below the throne. The figure on the throne shows a shaved head and an upright seated posture, and the appearance-based cues are not distinctive enough to name him, so he is described by role only.2013-04-01 +2 copiesMarch 05 20132013-03-05April 04 20132013-04-04A shaved-headed priest in an orange-red robe and rudraksha beads raises a tiered brass aarti lamp with many flames toward a seated figure on a gold throne. The throne sits within a colourful painted shrine doorway of pink, green and yellow. The seated figure wears orange-red robes, long beads and sits on a zebra-striped cloth. Brass lamp stands flank the doorway, and a man in white sits at the base of the throne, with a small bowl and flower offerings at the lower corners. Oil lamps and fairy-light sparkle create a festive glow. The scene looks like an aarti performed before a revered seat in a temple-style hall.2013-03-16November 20 20142014-11-20June 07 20132013-06-07March 06 20132013-03-06A photograph of an aarti ceremony in a decorated shrine room.
