Night photograph of a dense crowd of devotees packed beneath a canopy of marigold and red flower garlands strung in zigzag swags, with rows of small red and white lights overhead. Many people raise their hands and reach upward toward a central figure who stands above the crowd in a light-coloured shirt, holding a raised object. Men in white shirts and dhotis fill the foreground, and a brass lamp is visible at the lower left. A signboard with Tamil lettering hangs at the top of the frame. Several people hold up phones or cameras.
