A man with long swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead, wearing an orange and gold-bordered shawl over an orange garment, a white and red flower garland and a gold bead necklace, raises a lit silver oil lamp with a flame toward the viewer. Behind him to the left, a second man in white with an orange shawl stands beside a seated figure. Two Shiva lingams draped with yellow marigold garlands sit at the back, with a pile of white bricks on the floor. Behind him a man in white with a yellow shawl stands with palms pressed together in namaste. At the lower left, a seated man in white and yellow holds another lit lamp. Fresh banana leaves and neem leaves hang above, smoke drifts through the scene, and brass plates with yellow flower petals and offerings lie in the foreground. The orange-robed man is a person by appearance: a saffron robe, ornate gold beads and the central role in the aarti, though the appearance is only partly distinctive.2009-09-25A man in a saffron-orange robe, with a long white and red-yellow marigold garland around his neck, stands in profile at night holding a silver aarti lamp with a flame and smoke rising from it, performing a ritual.
