A photograph of a devotional lamp offering during the Pongal celebrations at Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Devalayam, Adi Kailash. Several people in the foreground hold up brass oil lamps with lit flames, arms extended, with smoke rising from one lamp. A red velvet drape forms the backdrop, and brass lamp stands are visible at lower right. A man with long dark hair and a beard in the left foreground wears an orange garment and a beaded necklace; the faces of others are partly cut off. Only partial figures and arms are visible, so the count is approximate.

One man at the right wears an orange cloth draped over his shoulder and a beaded bracelet on his wrist. Blurred figures in pink and orange sit in the background, and a brass lamp stand and small plates of offerings and flowers rest on a striped mat in the foreground. The setting suggests a puja or aarti with oil lamps.2017-01-22December 22 20162016-12-22Photograph inside a pillared temple hall with a corrugated roof and exposed red beams. Four bare-chested priests in orange-saffron dhotis stand in a row along an orange cloth-draped platform, holding oil lamps toward a golden shrine. The shrine holds deity murti decorated with garlands and red-and-white cloth, flanked by gold lattice screens and a red curtain. Two large screens hang from the ceiling, and framed portraits line the side walls.
