In Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Devalayam at Adi Kailasa Nithyananda Sarvajnapeetham, we are observing the sacred festival of Makara Sankranthi, also known as Pongal. The word Pongal itself is roughly translated as “boiling” or “overflow” in order to signify the abundance of crop harvest – indeed one of the most popular dishes for this festival is itself called ‘pongal’ and is prepared using boiled rice and lentils as both a savory and a sweet. On Makara Sankarant these two pongal naivedhyams were prepared in order to be offered to Bhagavan Shiva Surya and the SPH Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam in the Shiva Surya Puja.
