Night photograph of a large copper bowl-shaped lamp (deepam) raised high on a white cloth-wrapped pole, its rim catching light. A person with dark hair holds a long wooden torch whose flame is touching the lamp's wick at the right. Palm fronds frame the top and a coconut palm trunk stands at right; a pale moon shows in the dark sky, and blurred stone sculptures are at lower left. No a person candidate is visible, only the lamp-lighter's back and hair.

A figure with long, wavy dark hair, seen from behind, wears a saffron-orange garment with gold borders and holds a long torch whose flame rises toward a large copper bowl-shaped lamp. The copper lamp sits atop a white-draped pillar on a mat-covered base. Behind it, grey stone statues of standing figures are partly visible. A cameraman in white stands at the left edge, and a bed of marigold flowers lies at the lower right. Long hair and saffron robes suggest a sannyasi lighting the ceremonial lamp, a Kartheekai Deepam ritual, though the figure is not clearly identifiable.2010-11-21Night photo of a large copper deepam bowl atop a white-draped pillar, lit by a long-handled torch held up by a person seen from behind, with long dark wavy hair and an orange garment.
