Outdoor Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony on a dusty open ground with bunting strung across the scene. A tall white flagpole flies the Indian tricolour, and a large grey boulder bearing a painted banner stands behind a small white platform. A shaven-headed man in a white dhoti and orange shawl stands on the platform while an orange umbrella is held over him. Around him a group of about a dozen people in white and cream clothes, including children in white shirts and women in white and cream saris, stand and watch. A blue balloon floats near the rock. Trees and white buildings sit in the background under a pale sky.
