A photograph of an outdoor flag-hoisting ceremony on bare ground beneath a leafy tree. A tall white flagpole flies the Indian tricolour, with a garland at its base and a white circular plinth in front. Behind it a large grey boulder is painted with the words HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and 60 YEARS. Strings of multicoloured bunting and a blue balloon decorate the area. Around the pole stand about twenty people: children and adults in white dhotis, white sarees and white kurtas, with a few figures in saffron-orange robes at left, a woman in a white saree at left, and women in white and cream saris at right, all facing the flagpole.
