A photograph of a homa or fire ritual at a brick-lined fire pit. A shaved-headed man in an orange saffron cloth, bare-chested, sits cross-legged at left and feeds offerings into the flames with his right hand. Behind the fire pit stands a decorated altar with a red and gold deity murti garlanded with white and pink flowers. Three framed portraits hang behind on a floral cloth, each garlanded with white flower strings. Brass lamps and a flower-covered offering table appear at right, and flower petals are scattered on the ground. The man's appearance does not clearly match the page's a person claim, so he is described by role only.A thatched open-sided pavilion holds a brick fire pit (homa kund) sending up smoke. A seated man in a saffron-orange robe, with a shaved head and tilak, leads the ritual, holding a flower-decked object and a small bell toward the flames. To the left, a shirtless man in a white dhoti with a red rudraksha-style mala stands watching. Behind the fire, a draped pink-patterned backdrop frames three framed portraits garlanded with flowers, and a decorated altar with brass lamps and a kalasha-like vessel sits to the right. Fruit, coconuts, and flower offerings lie on the ground in front, and a small brass vessel rests near the fire pit.2001-07-05July 05 20012001-07-052002 - Beautiful Pictures +1 copies2002 - Beautiful Pictures +1 copiesJuly 05 20012001-07-052001 - Glimpses From Various Programs2001-01-01July 05 20012001-07-052003 -Glimpses From Various Programs2003-01-01Night ritual under a white canopy at an outdoor shrine. On the altar is a framed portrait wrapped in white and red flower garlands, a silver vessel, a tray of yellow lemons or limes, and a patterned cloth. Behind him a man in a white shirt holds a metal bowl of red kumkum, and another man in white stands nearby with a tray of flowers. Some elements appear to be part of a ritual puja setting.2001-07-05
