Several men stir a large steaming aluminium cooking pot with long metal ladles, one in a grey shirt and checked lungi, one bare-chested with a yellow-and-white head cloth, and others in white shirts and head coverings. Red LPG gas cylinders sit beside the pots, with more steel vessels and food preparation behind them. A man in white dhoti with a gold border stands at left. The scene shows bulk food preparation for annadhanam.2012-01-04January 06 20122012-01-06A photograph of a busy ashram kitchen with a red-tiled floor and white walls. On the left, a woman in a white dhoti-style garment and a rudraksha mala stirs a large aluminium pot of orange curry with a long steel ladle, a green cloth draped over her shoulder. On the right, a man with curly dark hair in a white kurta and white dhoti with an orange shawl stirs a wok of noodles or rice on a gas burner. Steel pots and pans sit on a stove and a counter, and a plastic bag hangs at the left edge. A colourful poster is pinned high on the wall above the cooking area.2007-05-04Outdoor cooking area under a tarpaulin canopy with red-earth bank behind it, used for large-scale food preparation. Several large black cooking pots sit on metal stands over propane gas cylinders, with a red hose connecting them. A shirtless man in dark shorts stands at the right stirring a pot with a long ladle. Steel bowls, a purple plastic bucket, white sacks and a green bag sit on the ground, with a bowl of chopped green leaves at lower left. Orange and dark cloth hangs from the canopy poles.2012-11-27Dim interior of a makeshift tent with a red patterned cloth canopy overhead, where several people work around large black cooking vessels. In the foreground a woman in a purple patterned sari and a man in a white sleeveless vest lean over a large dark pot. Behind them a man in an orange lungi and a headcloth and another man in a white vest and white dhoti tend more pots and a blue drum. Roles suggest community kitchen cooking, possibly annadan food preparation, with no visible deity, dais or a person depiction.2012-04-06June 19 20142014-06-19 +1 copies
