June 04 20182018-06-04April 26 20182018-04-26 +1 copiesA ceremonial homa or fire ritual in a hall with maroon drapes and a gilded throne behind. A long-haired man in a rust-orange dhoti and a red-and-gold rudraksha mala with a ceremonial gold necklace stands at the centre, holding a small bundle of white flowers and looking down at the fire. The presentation of this central figure (long swept hair, rudraksha and gold adornments, orange ritual dress) matches the a person cues, shown as a person officiating. A shaved-headed priest kneels at right holding a lamp of flame, another man in orange holds a silver bowl at left, and a priest in maroon with white tripundra marks stands at far right. Large garlands of marigolds and roses fill the foreground, with a visible fire pit in front of the central figure.2013-05-19April 26 20182018-04-26 +1 copiesA central figure with long dark hair wears a red-maroon dhoti and gold-bordered cloth, with a red-and-white flower garland, a gold bead necklace and a rudraksha-style mala, standing with hands folded before a small fire pit with flames. Heaped marigold and rose garlands fill the foreground. Behind him, an attendant in orange cloth carries a silver bowl, another in orange and white stands near a golden throne draped with flower garlands, a man in maroon kneels holding an oil lamp, and a robed figure with white forehead markings reads from a book. Red curtains and an air conditioner form the backdrop.2013-05-19A ritual scene in an indoor hall with carved wooden screens and a stone wall. A standing man in a rust-red turban and sacred thread, bare-chested with rudraksha and metal necklaces, holds a silver bell in his right hand and gestures toward a fire pit. In front of him, a silver tray holds yellow-wrapped coconuts decorated with green leaves and pink flowers, and a burning fire is built from yellow brick. Behind him, a seated man in a rust-red wrap and a heavy gold pendant necklace sits on an ornate silver-and-red throne with hands folded, his forehead marked with white tilak. The floor has a striped woven mat. The seated figure's appearance is consistent with a person candidate in a sitting position, but the uncertainty is considerable, so the identity is marked as unsure.2018-04-26September 14 20172017-09-14 +1 copiesA photograph of a fire ritual inside a temple-like hall. A yellow brick fire pit, the homa kund, burns with bright flames in the foreground, with fruit and flower offerings laid on a tray at right. A priest bare-chested in a rust-red dhoti and turban, with white markings on his body and a bead mala, bends over the offerings. Two young men in saffron-orange dhotis, one holding a silver plate and both with white body markings and bead necklaces, stand with palms joined at left. Seated in the background on an ornate gold throne with red cushions is a bearded man in a rust-red robe and turban with a mala, a person. Behind him is a gold carved arch, and striped rugs cover the floor.2018-03-12A ritual scene at a temple-style hall during a puja. In the centre, a seated man in a maroon-red robe and a matching red turban sits on a gold-and-red throne (peetha) with a gold lion-headed armrest, folding his hands in namaste. A ceremonial rudraksha-style garland of red beads hangs on his chest. In the foreground, a bald priest in orange-brown robes with a bare upper body and a wooden bead mala stands with a silver ceremonial implement and a small lamp, tilting a vessel toward a silver lamp. Silver trident-topped staffs (trishula) stand on either side, and a gold ornate canopy and flower garlands in yellow and purple decorate the throne.
