A man stands barefoot on a raised stone platform beside a large banyan tree, his forehead touching the trunk with eyes closed. He wears an orange-yellow unstitched wrap with red and maroon borders and triangular red patterns along the lower edge, and his upper body is bare apart from a cloth draped over one shoulder. A dark hair knot is tied at the back of his head, a white tilak marks his forehead, and a beaded necklace is visible at his chest. His hands are clasped at his waist. A small floral rangoli is drawn on the stone near his feet, and dry sandy ground, rocks and a low white wall surround the tree.2011-01-21December 29 20082008-12-29A photograph of a man in a flowing saffron-orange robe standing barefoot on a white circular platform, leaning his forehead and one hand against the thick, buttressed trunk of a large banyan tree with aerial roots. A garland of yellow and magenta flowers hangs on the tree trunk at left. The man has long, dark, swept-back hair and a dark rudraksha-style necklace visible at the neck. The white-walled ground is sandy, with dappled shade and a few poles and a low wall in the background.2010-02-12A man stands barefoot on a low stone platform beside a large banyan tree with many aerial roots, leaning his head against the trunk with eyes closed in a meditative posture. He has long dark hair tied in a back knot, a white vertical tilak on his forehead, and wears an orange-saffron cloth with dark red borders over his shoulder and a matching orange dhoti with red triangular border patterns, plus a beaded mala at his neck. A small floral kolam with purple and red petals is drawn on the stone at the lower left, and dry sandy ground and a brick wall fill the background.2011-01-21December 31 20092009-12-31A photograph of a long-haired figure in a saffron-orange robe standing barefoot on a low white circular platform, leaning against the thick, many-trunked aerial roots of a large banyan tree. A garland of yellow and magenta flowers hangs on the trunk to the left. The figure is turned toward the trunk with eyes lowered, one hand resting on the bark, in a quiet, reverent posture. Bare sandy ground, a white wall and a small pole are visible in the background.2010-02-12A photograph of a barefoot figure in an orange saffron robe and matching orange turban standing at the base of a large banyan tree, with hands pressed against the trunk. The tree is wrapped with white and pink flower garlands strung across its roots and branches, and petals are scattered on the reddish earth inside a white-painted circular platform. Striped mats lie on the ground to the right, and a rangoli-style white floral pattern is visible on the step at lower right. The figure wears a white and red-beaded garland around the neck.2008-07-17A photograph of a single man standing barefoot on a curved white-painted platform beside a large old banyan tree with thick aerial roots. He wears a flowing saffron-orange robe draped over one shoulder and has long dark hair, a rudraksha-style necklace visible at his neck, and he leans forward with one hand resting against the trunk. A strand of yellow and magenta marigold garland hangs on the left edge near the base of the tree. The setting is an open dusty courtyard with white walls and a few pillars in the background. Swamiji (probable) is shown in appearance: long swept-back hair, saffron robe and a rudraksha-style necklace, though the candidate is not clearly identifiable.2010-02-12December 31 20092009-12-31A man in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with gold borders stands barefoot, leaning his forehead and body against the trunk of a large banyan tree with aerial roots. He wears a gold turban and a white flower garland, and holds a small silver vessel in his hands while facing the tree. Yellow marigold garlands drape the roots and a white stone platform surrounds the trunk, with flower offerings scattered on it. Nearby a brass oil lamp burns on a stand, and white pillars and a dark polished floor are visible in the open courtyard.2008-12-27A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and prop roots spreading across a sandy ground. A standing man in saffron-orange robes and bare feet leans against the trunk with his hands clasped, a beaded mala around his neck. A white chalk kolam or geometric floor drawing with a trident-like motif is painted on the ground at the base, beside a small stone slab. Green leaves and bright daylight fill the background. The man's hair is short and his figure is not distinctly adorned, so no appearance-based identification is made.2011-02-01
