July 20 20152015-07-20A priest in a red-and-gold dhoti and shawl stands at left, holding a lit oil lamp with his right hand and a green leaf, performing puja before a tiered, multi-level deity altar. The altar is decorated with marigold garlands, a red silk cloth, and a jewelled gold-and-silver adornment on a conical kalasha-like form; flanking it are yellow lions, a multi-headed cobra and two seated kneeling devotee figures in red with folded hands. Incense sticks stand in a metal holder and brass vessels sit on a teal base. Gold-embroidered drapery and a gilded arch frame the scene.2015-07-20A photograph of a temple ritual centred on a decorated deity murti on an elaborate ratha-style platform heavily adorned with yellow and orange marigold garlands and multicoloured flower strands. The deity murti has a blue face and a golden crown, and a trident is visible in the foreground. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with an orange-and-green border stands with his back to the camera, raising his right arm toward the deity. Ornate golden arches frame the scene, with additional garlanded deity figures at the left and right edges and a hazy, smoky atmosphere around them.2015-01-12August 21 20142014-08-21A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with a green and gold silk sash and a yellow headcloth bends over a gold-decorated peetha adorned with garlands of white jasmine, red roses and yellow marigolds. He holds a brass lamp with a flame, pouring or lighting oil over a brass dish. Lit oil lamps, banana leaves, fruit, a brass vessel and a kalasha sit around the altar, with a striped woven mat on the floor. Other men in white dhotis and gold chains stand behind, with a figure in saffron clothing at the back.
