Several people in white clothing walk and stand along a dirt path strewn with dry leaves, a low stone-edged channel running beside them. Among them a woman in a white sari stands near the centre, and a man in white kneels at the path's edge. The figures are small and distant, and no one is clearly identifiable as a specific individual.2016-02-27 +1 copiesFour men in white dhotis and white shirts walk along a dusty path beneath a large, ancient banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and sprawling branches. The man on the left, with grey hair, wears a white shirt and dhoti. The man in the centre holds a long orange-saffron flag on a pole, and the men behind him wear white. Sunlight filters through the leaves onto a rocky, sandy ground. Their steady pace and the saffron flag suggest a devotional walking procession.2007-02-24Outdoors among large banyan tree trunks with many hanging aerial roots, several people in white clothes press their hands and bodies against the tree and a grey stone slab. A woman in a white top with a red scarf and dark hair in a braid stands close to the trunk, and a younger person in white leans forward at the centre. On the right, a seated woman in a pink top and dark trousers reads or writes in a notebook beside the roots, while another white-clad figure leans against the trunk further right. Dry leaves cover the ground and sunlight filters through the branches.2016-02-27 +1 copiesA large, ancient banyan tree with sprawling horizontal limbs and many aerial prop roots dropping to the ground forms the main subject, its dense green canopy spreading across the frame. Beneath it, a circular raised stone platform surrounds the trunk base. At left, a green cloth-draped object and a red-and-white offering stand near a small shrine area. Two people in white clothing stand near the tree on the left, one in white with a red-trimmed garment. Sandy ground and white posts surround the sacred tree enclosure.2013-06-12 +1 copies
