November 12 20082008-11-12November 12 20082008-11-12A photograph of a festival procession on a garden path under a large banyan-style tree. At the centre, a smiling figure in saffron-orange robes wears a long white-and-red flower garland and a thin white forehead band, with long dark hair. The figure raises both hands in greeting. A large red, yellow and green striped umbrella with tasselled fringe is held overhead. Attendants in orange robes and gold-bead necklaces carry a gold ceremonial staff topped with a trident-like finial, and another gold staff. A man in white dhoti and shirt with a sacred thread walks at left, hands joined, and another white-clad attendant at right carries a blue pot. Marigolds and greenery line the path.2008-12-24Outdoor photo of a flag-hoisting ceremony in a garden with green trees and yellow flowering shrubs. A man in a deep orange-red robe with a long dark rudraksha mala holds a rope attached to a tall white flagpole while a red umbrella with colourful fringe is held above him. Two decorated yellow-and-red ceremonial banners stand nearby. Another man in an orange dhoti and shawl, bare-footed, stands at the flagpole's base, which is ringed by brick and scattered with yellow flower petals. To the left, several people in orange and white clothing carry a silver tray of offerings and flowers. Several bystanders in white are behind them. The scene reads as a ritual ceremony around the flagpole.2008-11-12November 12 20082008-11-12December 23 20082008-12-23November 12 20082008-11-12Outdoor flag-hoisting ceremony in a garden with mango-like trees and a low rock border. A long-haired man in an orange saffron shawl and a multi-strand rudraksha mala grips a white flagpole with both hands, smiling. Beside him, a man in white clothes holds the pole and a cord, and an orange-clad attendant stands to the left. Two decorated umbrellas, one red and blue with tassels and one yellow and red with floral embroidery, are held overhead by attendants, and a barbed-wire fence runs behind. Appearance-based cues including long swept hair and the rudraksha mala fit a person as the central figure, and the sign-free scene is otherwise devotional ceremony.2008-11-12December 30 20072007-12-30A procession on a dirt road walks past banana plants and a low building under a dusky sky. Four ornate, colourful parasols with floral and peacock-motif panels lead the group. Men in white dhotis with yellow shawls carry a brass vessel and a long staff. At centre, a figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe with a rudraksha mala and gold chain walks barefoot. Behind, a bald man in a red-orange cloth with gold necklaces holds a tray, and a bearded man in orange robes walks at right beside a man in white with a rudraksha mala and yellow sash. A woman in white with a headscarf walks among them, and a trident is visible in the background.2010-01-02A procession on a dirt road under open sky, with red and orange umbrellas and flags overhead. In the centre, a man with long dark hair, a red tilak on his forehead, a white and pink flower garland and a rudraksha-style gold-toned necklace walks in orange robes; a golden trident is carried beside him. Around him, men in orange robes and white dhotis carry golden staffs and a yellow-and-red parasol, and a man in orange at right holds a golden staff. Behind, many devotees in white garments follow.2008-12-28 +1 copiesApril 19 20082008-04-19
