March 03 20202020-03-03Outdoor temple-style ritual display on a paved courtyard with palm trees behind. A bare-chested man in orange dhoti and orange shawl stands at the center, facing the shrines, apparently in prayer. Behind him are several large decorated deity murti on raised platforms, each under a multicoloured umbrella: a red-faced fierce deity with a golden crown and green-and-red garland, a figure seated under a shell-decorated arch, a standing figure in gold ornaments, and smaller figures on red and gold draped pedestals. A golden peacock and a golden vahana stand near the right group. At left, a painted portrait of a man with a red-and-gold turban and gold necklaces sits on a golden panel, with a small framed photo and offering items on a gold-embroidered table below.2020-03-03January 07th 20152015-01-07 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual at a temple shrine. The central murti wears a pink and gold skirt, a jewelled crown, a red and white garland and holds a sceptre. Flanking murtis wear yellow and green garments and garlands. In the foreground a standing man in orange saffron clothing and a saffron turban, bare-shouldered with a saffron shawl, extends his arm toward the central murti. Small brass oil lamps and white flowers sit on the altar before the figures, and palm trees rise behind the procession.2021-03-03Outdoor procession scene. A bald man in an orange-brown ochre robe with a gold-edged cloth draped over his shoulder, wearing glasses and rudraksha-style beaded bracelets, stands at left extending a small ritual vessel toward a decorated deity murti. The murti stands on a golden peacock-shaped vahana within a golden canopy framed by pink and red drapes, adorned with a jeweled crown, gold ornaments and green leaf garlands with orange and yellow marigold garlands. A bare-chested priest in orange cloth with a saffron shawl and a headband stands at the centre, his hand resting on a golden arch over a lingam with a white tripundra marking. Behind him, gilded deity murtis with crowns and jewelled necklaces stand under ornate mirror-work arches. Flanking figures wear red turbans, pink and maroon garments and heavy jewelled necklaces. The figures are statues, not living people, and the priest is a devotee performing abhishekam or puja at the sanctum.2020-11-24
