A long-haired figure in a bright orange-red robe and gold armlet and bead garlands touches their forehead with one hand while holding a flame-lit oil lamp arati tray. Beside them a bald priest in orange-saffron robe and white-bead garland holds the lamp, and a bare-chested temple attendant in a cream dhoti and green bead necklace holds a silver tray with offerings. Devotees in white with folded hands stand behind. A brass kalasha-style vessel sits on the left, and a rudraksha mala is visible on a bare-chested man at left. Strands of marigold garland hang over the scene.2011-12-20September 24 20122012-09-24Photograph inside a stone temple hall with carved pillars. A central figure with long dark wavy hair, a white forehead mark, orange saffron robes and a thick gold-beaded necklace with a gold bangle on the upper arm holds his hands over a lit oil lamp on a metal tray of offerings, possibly aarti. Two men in orange robes with gold necklaces stand behind him, one holding a gold vessel, and a bare-chested priest with red beads stands at left. Devotees in white dhotis and shirts stand with folded hands along the right, with a crowd behind them.2011-12-20A photograph of a ritual in a bare concrete hall with brick walls. In the centre, a person in an orange-red dhoti and shawl, with long dark hair and a gold-bead mala, has both palms raised to the forehead while receiving a flame. A bare-chested priest in a cream dhoti, with a red coral mala, holds a brass plate with a lit oil lamp, bowls and offerings. An older man in white shirt and white dhoti stands at left with palms pressed together. Devotees in orange and purple garments stand behind, and a man in a white and gold-bordered dhoti stands at right. The scene resembles an aarti or puja; no identity is asserted from appearance.2012-09-24September 24 20122012-09-24A photograph inside a hall with a plain brick wall and stone pillars. A man in a saffron-orange dhoti with a long gold bead necklace and a gold chain, with a vertical tilak on his forehead and long dark hair, stands in the centre with hands joined in front of his chest, appearing to speak. To the left, an older man with white hair and beard in a white shirt stands with palms pressed together in respectful greeting. In the foreground, a bare-chested priest in a cream dhoti with a white sacred thread and a red coral mala holds a brass plate with a lit oil lamp and offerings. Women in red and saffron saris stand in the background, and a man in a blue and gold dhoti is at the right edge. Several people stand around in a devotional gathering.2012-09-24 +1 copiesNight photo inside a stone temple hall with carved pillars. On the left, a man with long, swept-back dark hair and a white forehead mark wears an orange-saffron cloth, gold necklaces and bangles, and extends his right hand over a brass plate holding flowers, white petals and a lit oil lamp. Facing him, a bare-chested young priest in a white dhoti with a green-and-gold shawl and rudraksha mala holds the plate. Behind them, a man in a striped white shirt stands with palms pressed together in namaskar, and other devotees in white shirts and dhotis watch from the background. The left figure shows distinctive saffron clothing, long hair and gold ornaments, matching a probable Swamiji (probable) performing a puja offering with the priest attending. Lamp and flowers suggest an aarti or puja setting.2012-04-05Photograph of a satsang hall with a dark backdrop and draped white and maroon fabric, decorated with hanging orange and multicoloured tassels. In the centre a man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing an orange saffron shawl, a rudraksha mala and a large gold pendant necklace, raises his right hand toward the forehead of a bespectacled man in a white shirt who stands with palms pressed together. A second man in orange robes holds a silver tray with offerings. To the left a man in a light striped shirt and a beige kurta stands with hands folded, and to the right a bare-chested young man in white dhoti and rudraksha mala stands near a tray of offerings. Several people in white clothes stand in the background, and a woman in a green shawl is visible behind them. Striped floor mats lie on the ground. Probable Swamiji cues: long swept-back hair, orange shawl, rudraksha mala and gold pendant in the central blessing gesture.2011-01-23A photograph of a blessing scene inside a temple hall with a striped tent canopy and colourful fabric pillars. A smiling man with long dark hair and a bare chest wears an orange-saffron cloth draped over one shoulder, with gold-coloured trim and a gold necklace; he presses his palm to the forehead of a bald devotee bending forward, while another devotee in white clothing stands with palms joined. On the left, an older man in white kurta and white dhoti waits with hands together. On the right, a monk in orange robes holds a silver tray. Behind them a priest with a white forehead mark and rudraksha-style beads, and a gold ornamental object, are visible. The scene reads as a padapuja or blessing ritual. The long-haired figure with the bare chest and gold necklace is a probable Swamiji by these cues, appearing in person.2011-01-29January 15 20092009-01-15July 13 20092009-07-13
