He holds a brass aarti lamp with a flame in one hand and a handbell in the other. His bare upper body shows beaded bracelets and armlets, and he wears rudraksha malas around his neck. Behind him, the deity murti is adorned with garlands of pink, yellow and white flowers on a silver pedestal. The setting is a temple-style shrine in a plain room.2018-04-18Night ritual photograph at a fire ceremony. Three people stand with their backs to the camera before a lit fire pit. A man on the left wears an orange-brown head wrap and a bare upper back, holding a tray of offerings. Two figures on the right wear orange and white cloth wraps; one holds a tray with a green-wrapped bundle, the other stands bare-backed with a dark bead necklace. Behind the fire, a red-and-gold throne holds a seated deity murti or figure draped in yellow garlands, flanked by a brass lamp stand and a decorated kalasha. A large steel vessel and brass pots sit in the foreground. Flowers and a rope of leaves hang overhead. This appears to be a homa/yagna or puja setting with fire offerings.2016-10-10October 10 20162016-10-10A man in an orange-red turban and matching saffron-red dhoti-style wrap with a gold border tends a large fire at a homa. He wears a rudraksha mala and heavy gold beaded necklaces, with bead bracelets on his wrists and a red bindi on his forehead. Bright flames rise from a brick fire pit in front of him, and a copper pot sits to the side. The setting is dark and smoky, with the figure lit mainly by the fire.2014-01-05August 25 20172017-08-25A man in a saffron-orange shawl with a red tilak on his forehead holds a brass aarti lamp with a flaming wick in his right hand, while a smaller brass bell is held in his left. Smoke rises above him. He is smiling and looking down at the flame. Behind him hangs an orange-red curtain, and tall brass lamp stands with oil lamps are at the right edge of the frame. The setting suggests a temple ritual, with the man performing an aarti. Swamiji (probable): long, swept-back hair, saffron clothing and a gold neck ornament identify him as a probable candidate, performing the aarti in a temple ritual.2010-01-02 +1 copiesNight outdoor ritual under a large tree hung with marigold garlands and red and yellow cloth. In the foreground a man in an orange-red shawl and turban holds a brass lamp with a large flame on a tray, offering aarti. Behind him a seated man in orange clothing sits on a red-draped platform in front of a decorated canopy with a red and white backdrop, and another man in orange stands nearby. A young man in white dhoti and a woman in white stand at the right, and a kalasha with a plant and offering items sit on the red mat near the lower left. Brass ornamentation frames the left edge and string lights are visible in the background. This appears to be a puja or aarti ceremony.2014-05-20February 01 20172017-02-01
