July 16 20192019-07-16July 16 20192019-07-16Night photograph of a temple entrance with golden pillars and stone steps. In the centre, a dark-skinned deity murti in gold and purple silk with heavy jewelled ornaments and a tall ornate crown stands on a base, with a large framed printed portrait of a bearded figure in orange and rudraksha garlands mounted above it. A multicoloured fringed parasol is held over the scene. Rose petals sit in a tray at lower left, and a red velvet curtain hangs at left beside green banana-leaf decorations. Two standing figures in the background are partly visible, one in dark red robes; no one is clearly identifiable. The portrait is a printed picture, not a physical person in the scene.2019-07-16Night view of an illuminated temple courtyard with gold-painted pillars and a stone staircase. In the centre stands a dark-stone deity murti in a gold-and-purple dhoti, wearing an ornate crown and a jewelled breastplate. Behind it on the steps is a seated figure in saffron-orange robes with a red-and-white garland, placed beside a standing figure in an orange robe. A fabric canopy with red, green and yellow stripes hangs above, and banana plants and a low table with flower petals sit at the sides. The figures on the steps appear to be statues or portraits rather than living people, and no living person is clearly visible.2019-07-16Night procession at a gilded temple courtyard with banana plants, a fringed red-white-green canopy and string lights. A life-size cutout or printed image of a bearded figure in saffron-orange robes and a turban, garlanded with red and yellow flower necklaces, stands in the centre. Around it, people in orange and maroon robes and rudraksha malas walk and carry trays of pink flowers. On the right, a large dark deity murti wears a striped crown and jewelled ornaments. A gold yantra-marked pedestal stands in front, and a gilded deity shrine with a garland is at the left edge.2019-07-16A photo inside a gold-decorated temple hall at night. On the left, deity murtis with flower garlands stand in a gilded shrine arch, one figure in pink and purple draping. A large cutout standing figure on the right shows a man with an orange turban, pink and yellow flower garlands, orange robe and white beaded ornaments, holding one hand raised in blessing; it is a printed cardboard figure, not a physical person. Behind it, a few people in orange and maroon clothing are partially visible. A banana plant, gold pedestal and hanging fabric decorate the space.2019-07-16February 06 20142014-02-06A night procession passes beside a large gilded deity murti seated on a golden throne, its dark face and gold crown, arm bangles and layered pearl and bead necklaces prominent, with a white dhoti-like drape. Garlands of marigolds and multicolored flowers wrap the murti and its arch. To the right, several people walk along a paved path under trees, including a figure in orange and a bare-chested man wearing a long orange-gold garment and a flower garland over his shoulder, with a white-clad figure nearby. The setting is dark, lit by ambient light.2015-02-19November 17 20132013-11-17December 05 20142014-12-05February 19 20152015-02-19Photograph of a gilded temple hall at night with banana plants and golden pillars. In the centre a life-size cutout figure of a bearded man in an orange turban and saffron-red dhoti wears a thick pink and yellow garland and stands beside a gold pedestal. Behind him a man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala, and a woman in a deep red sari with a gold necklace, stand in the background. On the right a woman in a red sari holds a plate with flowers beside a golden altar box. A gold palanquin or throne with a deity murti is at the right edge, and red and orange cloth hangs from the ceiling. The central figure appears to be a cardboard or printed cutout rather than a living person, so the candidate is shown as a depiction with uncertain identity.2019-07-16
