Two priests sit behind the altar: the one on the left, bald with white tilak, wears a white dhoti and gold necklace and tends an offering tray and bowl with a small flame; the one on the right, with a shaved-back head and tilak, wears an orange-saffron shawl and dhoti with a gold ceremonial necklace and holds an incense or offering vessel. Garlands of yellow and white flowers, a coconut, green leaves and a brass kalasha-style vessel sit at the left edge. A white backdrop, orange string lights and a stage rig frame the scene.2011-12-20Two young men in saffron-orange robes sit cross-legged on a striped green-and-red mat before a yellow brick fire pit (homa kunda) with smoke rising from it. The man on the left, bare-headed with white sacred ash marks on his forehead and arms, holds a bundle of dried grass and looks down. The man on the right wears a rudraksha mala, a saffron wrap, and white tilaka marks, holding a bell and a small oil lamp beside brass bowls of offerings and a plate of flower petals. A microphone stands behind them, a garland of white flowers and an orange cloth lie to the right, and a golden ornate throne is visible in the background. This appears to be a homa or fire ritual.2013-05-28May 28 20132013-05-28May 28 20132013-05-28A photograph of a homa fire pit built from stacked yellowish bricks, with a tall flame rising from the centre.
