April 07 20052005-04-07Evening photograph of a crowd of devotees gathered beneath a large tree with thick trunks and sprawling branches in the dark. Many people stand in a loose line with their backs to the camera, several with hands pressed together in namaskar. A woman in a blue sari with a white and red flower garland in her hair stands in the foreground beside a man in a white shirt holding a small shoulder bag, and an older man in white shirt and grey trousers stands at right. Others wear saffron, purple and green saris, and one figure wears a long white robe. A small lamp flame glows among the trunk area in the background, and faint bokeh spots fill the frame. The page associates the event with a talk on meditation, but no a person figure is clearly visible here.2005-04-07Night-time outdoor ritual beneath a large banyan tree with hanging aerial roots, lit by a bright white light on a pole at left. A bare-chested man in rust-red dhoti and shawl holds a long garland of red and yellow flowers, standing near a row of attendants. Behind him a bearded man in orange robes and rudraksha beads stands near a dark-robed figure. A woman in a red-orange sari with gold border holds a brass plate with lit oil lamps and offerings, and another attendant in red with a plate stands beside her. At right a man in dark robes raises a flaming torch or lamp toward the tree trunk. The stone-paved ground is wet and dark. Several people in red and orange ritual clothing are visible, some partly cut off at the edges.2019-07-16July 16 20192019-07-16Night-time outdoor ritual at the base of a large banyan tree with aerial roots, lit by a bright floodlight at upper left. A man at left, shirtless with a red-brown dhoti and cloth, holds a long pole draped with pink and yellow flower garlands. Beside him a woman in a red-brown sari holds a brass plate of flowers, and another man behind her carries a plate with a small lamp. On the right, a figure in dark red-brown clothing with rudraksha beads raises a lit oil lamp toward the tree. Stone-paved floor and a low red wall frame the scene. Five people are visible.2019-07-16A dim evening gathering under a large banyan-like tree with thick aerial roots, lit by a bright spotlight in the upper left. Dozens of seated devotees, mostly in white and cream clothing, sit close together on the ground with small oil lamps and flickering candle flames in front of them. Several women wear saffron and orange saris and mala beads, and a man at right wears a red-trimmed vest. A standing man in a white tunic stands near the tree at centre, and another standing figure in white stands at upper right. Most attendees appear to be meditating or listening with hands held in front of them. No speaker is clearly identifiable as a central figure in this crowd view.2005-12-19A night-time outdoor gathering beneath a large banyan tree with thick hanging aerial roots and bright floodlights in its branches. Dozens of devotees sit closely on the ground in white, cream and pastel clothing, many holding small lit oil lamps or candles that glow in the dim light. Some wear rudraksha or beaded necklaces and lanyards. Standing figures in white clothing are scattered through the crowd, including a tall man in white at the centre-back and a person in white at the upper right. The mood is a quiet evening satsang or meditation session. On the right, a group of people in saffron and orange robes gather near a pillared shrine; one robed figure holds a lit flame or oil lamp near the ground. Several people in rust-red and orange cloth stand in a row on a stone-paved courtyard. A central figure wears a garland of red and yellow flowers and holds clasped hands in front of the chest.
